Baytown Nature Center

The Baytown Nature Center is an official site on the Great Texas Coastal Birding Trail. This 450-acre peninsula is surrounded by three bays and home to more than 300 species of birds who depend on this area for migration, feeding or nesting. It is also an important nursery area for a variety of aquatic species, including shrimp, crab and fish. This former residential subdivision now features picnic shelters, three fishing piers, two pavilions and two overlooks. It also includes the Crystal Bay Butterfly Garden, the Children’s Nature Discovery Area and the Myra C. Brown Bird Sanctuary. Open 30 min. before sunrise, and close 30 min. after sunset. $4.00 per person.

Jenkins Park

This park is 102.47 acres and features a golf disc course, skate park, bark (dog) park and 1.08 miles of hiking trails. This park also has 12 group or day use shelters, public restrooms, 2 baseball fields, 18 picnic areas, playground, 1 basketball court, a themed splash pad, rentable party/event space, and 1 BBQ pit.

David G. Burnet Park

This 6.3 acre park is located east of the Lynchburg Ferries north landing. This historic park is named after the first President of the Republic of Texas. There is a ¼ mile jogging trail, educational plaza, historical marker, plaques and kiosks emphasizing the history of the park as Burnets home site and the shared history with the Lynchburg ferry and San Jacinto battleground.

Roseland Park

Roseland Park features a walking trail, two boat ramps, fishing piers, playgrounds, many picnic areas, BBQ pits, two pavilions for rent, public restrooms, sand volleyball court, and basketball courts. The park is also home to the Old 895 steam engine and a railroad themed splash pad.

Eddie Gray Wetlands Center

An official site on the Great Texas Coastal Birding Trail, the Wetlands Center aims to increase awareness, appreciation and understanding of wetlands, the environment and cultural history.  The Wetlands Center features a 900 square foot exhibit hall containing a variety of exciting and educational live-animal and hands-on exhibits. Wetlands Center staff provide tours if reserved in advance or visitors are welcome to take a self-guided tour. Admission: Free, Hours: 9 am – 4 pm Mon. – Fri., 10 am – 4 pm Sat.

Bicentenial Park

This park is home to the Fireman’s Memorial and Veteran’s Memorial Plaza. Many events take place at Bicentennial Park throughout the year such as the 2-day July 4th Extravaganza, Juneteenth Celebration and Grito Fest. The park features a .26 mile walking trail, group and day use shelters, picnic areas and an outdoor theater.

Goose Creek Trail

Walkers and outdoor fans will love the 5.69 mile Goose Creek Trail experience that incorporates coastal areas, wooded pathways and pristine ecosystems with access to piers, public boat ramps, city parks, fishing docks, and the Eddie V. Gray Wetlands Center.

Calypso Cove

Calypso Cove is a great place to bring kids of all ages! There is a little pool featuring a dump bucket and a larger pool with a crossing challenge and a water slide. Admission is only $5 per person.
